Joy McAughtrie is a seasoned and versatile Canadian artist, with subject
matter of wide appeal. It is dangerous to pigeon-hole her style as
her next painting could embrace a different quality altogether. It
is safe to say, the use of vibrant colour gives her work an
exuberance that causes the viewer to appreciate the artistic
interpretation with a deeper level of enjoyment. Joy has painted all of her life, her
training is extensive, and she has exhibited widely in both solo and
group exhibitions. Her works are in private collections in North America and abroad. |

"I enjoy working with
different media." |
|
A
highly creative and prolific individual, Joy has worked with a
diversity of media including, glass, sculpture, watercolour,
acrylic, ink, pastel, pencils, and pen. She often works on location,
capturing more vividly the essence of the image. Her Mexican series
most particularly, are often done leaning against a building on a
crowded corner. Latterly, her extensive travels have contributed to
an emerging style that juxtaposes colour and form, with confidence
and bold self assurance, that is a shift from the Canadian realism
and impressionistic stamp that characterized her earlier work. |
